Ins Autopilot troubleshooting

A symptom-by-symptom guide: what you see, what usually causes it, and what to do next — without guessing at names of things.

Action buttons are greyed out

The action buttons are disabled, or the extension says actions are unavailable.
This usually means the tab you are looking at belongs to a different Instagram account than the one the extension is set up for. Switch back to the account the extension shows in its footer, then reload the page. The buttons stay disabled while the visible account and the configured account do not match, because acting there would run your session on the wrong profile.
I switched accounts correctly and the buttons are still disabled.
Reload the Instagram tab once. A page that was loaded before the switch can keep the old account context. If it still does not clear, sign out fully and sign in again, then reload the extension.

Quota and daily limits

I have run out of quota for the day.
On the free plan, Follow, Unfollow and Likes are 10 each per day, and Comment and DM are not included at all. Monthly Pro raises Follow, Unfollow and Likes to 200 per day each, with Comment and DM at 30 each. Annual Pro raises those to 250 and 50. Quota refreshes each day.
Is the daily limit an Instagram safety threshold?
No. It is a product usage limit. Staying under it does not change how Instagram treats your account, and going over it is simply not possible from the extension. Automation risk depends on your account state and on platform limits, and no setting here changes that.
My daily counter did not reset when I expected.
The Outreach Trial counts new contacts per UTC day, so it resets at midnight UTC rather than your local midnight. Check the time zone before assuming a problem.

Trial has run out

The Trial says it is used up, but I only sent a few messages.
The Trial is measured in unique confirmed contacts, not messages: 5 unique confirmed contacts per Instagram sender account. A second message to someone already in that set does not extend it. Only confirmed sends count, so failed, blocked and skipped attempts were not spending it.
The Trial expired and I did not use all five contacts.
The Trial runs for 7 days from your first confirmed delivery. It does not renew per day, and it ends when either the contact allowance is used or the 7 days pass. After that, new outbound messages need Pro — but your History and Relationships stay readable.
Does the Trial give me Pro features?
No. The Trial is a DM allowance exception, not a Pro upgrade. AI Draft, follow-up sequences, tracked links, comment replies, Monitor, multi-account management and CSV export are all Pro features and are not included.

Sends that did not go out

A message is sitting in Needs review.
Instagram never confirmed whether that message was delivered. Open the thread in Instagram and look before you do anything else — the message may already be there. Do not resend: the extension holds unresolved items and never retries them automatically, because retrying could send the same message twice. Read Sent, blocked, unknown and Needs Review explained.
What is the difference between blocked and failed?
blocked means the system refused the send before it was attempted — for example the signed-in account changed, the recipient is not eligible, or a limit stopped it. Nothing was sent, and you can try again once you have fixed the cause. failed means the attempt was made and it is confirmed that the message did not go out. A failed send can be retried safely, and a retry after a proven failure does not double-count against your allowance.
Should I retry a message that says unknown?
No. Unknown means delivery could not be confirmed, and it is never retried automatically. Check the thread in Instagram. If you conclude it did not arrive, resolve the review item as not delivered — it then becomes a failure you may retry.

Instagram pages and messages not reading

The extension cannot read comments or messages.
Instagram changes its page structure from time to time. Reload the Instagram tab first, then check that the page language and the page version you are seeing are the ones the extension expects — a localized or redesigned layout can change what can be read reliably.
Some data is missing even though the page looks normal.
Reads are never guessed. When the extension cannot read a time, a reply or a status with confidence, it records nothing rather than recording something wrong. Missing data is a gap, not a false negative.

Browser session problems

The extension lost its connection to Instagram.
Your browser session ended or expired. Sign in to Instagram again in the same browser and reload the extension. The extension does not store your Instagram password and cannot sign in for you — it works from the session you already have open.
Everything worked yesterday and now nothing does.
Check the signed-in account first, then the session, then the page. Those three cover most sudden failures.

After an update, and paid plan issues

I updated the extension and it behaves like the old version.
Open chrome://extensions and press Reload once on Ins Autopilot. In Manifest V3 the background worker can keep running cached older code after an update, so a reload is what actually swaps in the new build. Reload the Instagram tab as well.
I paid, but Pro features are not showing.
Give it a moment so the extension can re-check your plan, then reload it. Plan state is confirmed with the service, so a fresh check is usually enough. If Pro is still not showing after that, contact support with the account you paid from and the approximate time of payment.
Do I need to reinstall after an update?
No. A reload is enough. Reinstalling is not the fix for stale code, and reloading first avoids losing local state you do not need to lose.

AI Draft and tracked links

AI Draft is returning an error.
AI Draft is bring-your-own-key: you supply the provider address and API key, and they are stored in your local browser. Check that the address and the key are correct and still valid, that the provider account still has credit or quota left, and that the provider is reachable from your current network. If the request never leaves your machine, the error is almost always one of those four.
A tracked link shows as unavailable.
Unavailable means a click could not be read — not that nobody clicked, and not that someone did. Treat it as missing information. It is not evidence of interest either way. See Tracked links.
A tracked link recorded a click. Should I treat that contact as qualified?
No. A recorded click is not interest, qualification or a sale. It is one fact, and it belongs in the record next to everything else you know.

What troubleshooting cannot fix

  • It cannot cancel an irreversible action. A removed repost stays removed, and a message that was already delivered cannot be unsent.
  • It cannot make an ambiguous item safe to retry. If delivery could not be confirmed, the honest answer is to check the Instagram thread first.
  • It cannot guarantee outcomes. Whether automated activity is safe for a given account depends on the account and on platform limits, and no setting here removes that risk.

If none of these symptoms match, capture what you see — the screen, the exact wording, and the account shown — before contacting support. That is what makes a report actionable.
