Today: who needs your attention next

Today shows one card per contact with the five fixed reasons it uses, five filters, and navigation instead of sending.

What this helps you do

Today answers one question and refuses to answer any other: who should you look at next? It is not a dashboard of everything you have ever done, and it is not a to-do list you have to maintain by hand.

It is assembled from your own records — the contacts in your ledger, your delivery records, and what the extension can read from Instagram — and it narrows all of that down to the people who have something waiting.

The five reasons a contact can appear

  • Replied — the person answered you, and that answer is waiting for a reply.
  • Delivery needs review — a send could not be confirmed and needs a human decision.
  • Follow-up reminder is due — a reminder you set has come due.
  • Sequence follow-up step is due — a step in a running follow-up sequence is due now.
  • Opened your tracked link — someone opened a link you shared.

These five are the only reasons Today uses. If a contact is in the list, it is there for one of them.

One contact, one card

  • Each contact gets a single card, so you never see the same person twice in the list.
  • The card leads with a primary reason — the most pressing thing about that contact right now.
  • A secondary reason can appear underneath when another of the five also applies, so you get the full picture without a second card.
  • The card carries enough context to make a decision, and links to the contact and its timeline.

The five filters

  • All — every card Today has put in front of you.
  • Replies — contacts whose primary reason is Replied.
  • Due — contacts with something due now, including follow-up reminders and sequence steps.
  • Warm — contacts with warmer signals, such as an opened tracked link.
  • Needs review — contacts with a delivery that requires a human decision.

Today never sends anything

Today has no send button. Every action on a card is navigation: it takes you to the contact, the conversation, or the queue item. That is all it does.

Nothing is sent from Today — not a message, not a follow-up step, not a like. When something needs to go out, you go to the place that sends it, look at it, and start it yourself.

Seeing a card is not approving an action. The extension never treats "you looked at it" as "you agreed to it".

A card in Today is a prompt, not a decision on your behalf.

When a source cannot be read

Today is built from sources the extension has to read. When one of them cannot be read, Today says so — it tells you that this particular item is not available right now.

It does not fall back to a blank list that implies there is nothing to do. Those are very different statements, and Today does not blur them.

An empty Today means Today found nothing. A source that failed to load will tell you it failed.

Limits and important behavior

  • Today only uses the five reasons listed above. If you are looking for something else, it is in another tab.
  • Today never sends, schedules or approves anything.
  • Snoozing or dismissing a card is not the same as acting on it. Dismissal does not send a message or clear a delivery that still needs review.
  • A delivery that needs review stays in Today until a human resolves it as delivered, not delivered, or unresolved.
  • Today reflects what the extension can read. A source that is not readable is reported as unavailable rather than as an empty result.

Today is a reading of your records, not a separate list you have to keep in sync. Fix the underlying record and Today updates with it.

Troubleshooting

A contact I expect to see is missing.
Check the other tabs, and check the filter. Today only surfaces the five reasons above. A contact with no reply, nothing due, no review pending and no tracked-link open has no reason to appear.
Today says something is not available right now.
One of the sources Today reads could not be loaded, so it reports that honestly instead of showing an empty list. This is not the same as "nothing to do".
I dismissed a card. Did that send anything?
No. Today never sends. Dismissing removes the prompt; it does not act on the contact.
Can I reply straight from a card?
The card navigates. It opens the contact or the conversation, and the send itself happens in the place that sends messages. See Direct Message.
Why does one person have a second reason on their card?
Because more than one of the five applies. The primary reason is the most pressing one, and the secondary reason is shown underneath so the picture is complete.
