How to use Comment replies

Your keywords, your reply lines, a long randomized interval. Comment replies answers what matches and skips the rest without stalling.

What this helps you do

Comment replies watches the comments on your Reels and posts, looks for the keywords you chose, and posts the reply you wrote in advance. It is for the case where a comment deserves an answer and you would otherwise get to it three days later, or never.

Each keyword maps to one reply line, so a question about pricing gets your pricing answer and a question about shipping gets your shipping answer — not a generic thank-you that fits nothing.

What this is not

This is not a chatbot and not a support desk. Replies come from fixed text you wrote. There is no free-form generation, no back-and-forth and nowhere for a conversation to escalate.

It does not reply to direct messages, it does not touch comments on other people's posts, and it does not send anything when no keyword matches. A comment it cannot match is skipped, and the run carries on to the next one rather than stalling on it.

Before you start

  • You are signed in to Instagram in the same browser, and the extension shows your account ID in the footer.
  • Comment replies is a Pro feature. It is not part of the Outreach Trial, so a Free account has no comment allowance at all.
  • Daily Comment allowance: 30 per day on Monthly Pro, 50 per day on Annual. Free is 0.
  • Comment and DM share that same daily allowance number, so plan both together.
  • Write your keyword list and reply lines before you start, and read them the way a stranger reading the thread would.

Step by step

  1. Open Outreach and choose Comment — the panel shows today's comment allowance and the Reels or posts the run will watch.
  2. Build your keyword and reply pairs — each line pairs one keyword with the reply it triggers — the trigger on one side, the text you want posted on the other. You can add several pairs, and each comment is matched against your list.
  3. Set the interval and the per-post cap — replies go out with a randomized delay rather than in one burst. A conservative starting point is 90 to 240 seconds between replies, with a small cap per Reel or post. A wide random range reads far less like a machine than a fixed number.
  4. Start the run — the extension reads comments, matches them against your keywords, and posts your reply where something matches.
  5. Leave unmatched comments alone — a comment matching nothing is skipped. The run does not guess an answer, does not generate one, and does not sit waiting for one — it moves on.
  6. Watch for refusals — every refused reply is counted. Consecutive refusals stop the run on their own, rather than pushing the same action at a platform that is already saying no.

What this does and does not protect you from

Comment replies drives a real browser session on your behalf. It is not an official platform API, and Instagram is free to refuse the action or to limit the account regardless of how your settings look.

Risk depends on your account's state and on the platform's current limits, which are not published. Nothing here guarantees that an account will not be restricted, and the daily allowance is a product ceiling rather than a safe number.

Conservative settings are the point, not a formality: a long randomized interval, a low per-post cap, and reply text that reads like something you would actually type. If Instagram starts refusing, stop and reassess rather than tuning the settings upward.

You are choosing to automate a public action on your own account. Anyone reading the thread sees the reply, so keep the interval long, the cap low and the text honest.

Why the run can stop itself

  • A refused reply is counted, not ignored. Repeated refusals mean the platform is not accepting the action.
  • On consecutive refusals the run stops itself. Continuing would add pressure to an account that is already being turned away.
  • The run does not retry a refused reply in a tight loop, and it does not treat a refusal as something to work around.
  • When the run stops, your allowance, your matches and your History stay exactly as they were, so you can review what happened and decide later whether to resume.

Limits and important behavior

  • Pro only. Free is 0 comments per day, Monthly Pro is 30, Annual is 50.
  • Replies are matched against your keywords. No match means no reply — the feature never invents text.
  • The wait between replies is randomized, so the actual interval is not identical every time.
  • Per-Reel and per-post caps bound how many replies land on one target, so a single busy thread cannot absorb the whole allowance.
  • The comment allowance refreshes daily. The Outreach Trial's 5 contacts and 7 days do not apply to Comment, because Comment is not a Trial feature.

You can always post a comment by hand. When a thread genuinely deserves a considered answer, writing it yourself is usually faster than widening the keyword list.

Troubleshooting

No replies were posted.
Either nothing matched your keywords, or the run is on a plan without a comment allowance. Free is 0 per day; Pro is 30 (Monthly) or 50 (Annual).
The run stopped by itself.
Consecutive refusals stop it deliberately. Review the thread and your reply text, wait, and only resume with a longer interval and a lower per-post cap.
The same reply appears twice on one comment.
Check your keyword pairs for overlap — two entries can both match the same comment. Keep each trigger specific to a single reply line.
Can I answer a DM with this?
No. Comment replies only works on comments on your own Reels and posts. Messaging is handled by How to send a Direct DM.
