How to use AI Draft
AI Draft writes a starting point, never a send. Bring your own provider key, pick the context, and press Send DM yourself.
What this helps you do
AI Draft writes a starting draft for a message you are about to send. It sits on the Outreach panel next to the message box, and its only output is text placed in that box.
It exists to get you past the blank field. The judgment — who to write to, whether the draft is accurate, whether to send it at all — stays entirely with you.
What this is not
AI Draft does not send anything, and it has no path to a send button. Every message that goes out, goes out because you pressed Send DM yourself.
AI does not write and send cold outreach on its own. There is no mode where the extension generates messages and fires them at a list of strangers — not here and not anywhere else in the product.
It also does not run on our models or our bill. There is no managed AI service behind it, no shared account, and no default provider.
If you were looking for something that messages people automatically, this is not it. AI Draft stops at the editable box, and so does everything built on top of it.
How BYOK works
- BYOK means bring your own key. You enter your provider's endpoint address and your API key. There is no bundled provider and no account with us.
- Both values are stored in your local browser. We do not receive the key, cannot read it, and cannot make requests on your behalf using it.
- Costs are settled between you and your provider, at their rates. Usage on your provider account is theirs to bill, and we never see it.
- AI Draft is off by default. Nothing is generated unless you switch it on in Settings.
You manage the key, the endpoint, and what you choose to share. If your key stops working, nothing in the send path breaks — you simply get no draft.
What leaves your browser when you generate
When AI Draft is on and you tick context, that selection goes straight from your browser to the model you configured. It is not routed through us.
The context you can include covers the material the draft needs to be useful, and it may include the recent messages exchanged with this contact, so the draft can respond to what was actually said. Choose only what you are comfortable handing to your provider. If a conversation contains anything you would not paste into a third-party tool, leave it out and write the message yourself.
Step by step
- Open Settings and turn on AI Draft — enter your provider's endpoint and API key. Both stay in your browser, and you can turn the feature off again at any time.
- Open Outreach and pick a recipient — Direct Message for a single contact, or Bulk DM Queue for a list. Drafting produces message text; choosing who receives it stays yours.
- Choose the context — tick the pieces the draft should know about. Fewer items means less leaves your browser, so start minimal and add only what genuinely improves the result.
- Generate the draft — the request goes from your browser directly to your provider. The result lands in the message box as editable text.
- Edit it — the draft is a starting point. Rewrite anything that is not true, not in your voice, or not specific enough to the person you are writing to.
- Review and press Send DM — the send is your action, taken after you have read the final text. AI Draft cannot trigger it. The outcome — sent, blocked, failed or unknown — belongs to your send, not to the draft.
Limits and important behavior
- AI Draft is a Pro feature. It is not part of the Outreach Trial, which covers messaging allowance only.
- The Trial's 5 unique confirmed contacts, 3 contacts per UTC day and 7-day window are unchanged by whether AI Draft is on. A draft is not a send.
- The draft is text and nothing else. It has no access to your sending, your queues, your allowance or your History.
- Your provider's terms, retention and privacy policy govern what happens to the context you send them. Read them before sharing message history.
- A generated draft can be wrong, generic or off in tone. Reading it before sending is the whole point of putting it in an editable box.
Troubleshooting
- AI Draft does not appear at all.
- It is off by default and it is a Pro feature. Check that it is enabled in Settings and that your plan includes it.
- Nothing is generated when I ask for a draft.
- The request goes to the provider you configured. A rejected key, an exhausted quota or a wrong endpoint address all fail on their side — check your provider account first.
- Could a draft ever be sent without me?
- No. Drafts only ever appear in the editable message box. Pressing Send DM is the only thing in the product that sends.
- Does the extension see my API key or my conversations?
- The key is stored locally and is not sent to us. The context you tick goes from your browser to your provider when you generate a draft, and is not routed through our servers.
