Numbers that circulate but deserve skepticism
- "200 follows per hour" style figures — hourly precision beyond "friction appears somewhere in this range" is indistinguishable from folklore unverified
- "The safe number is exactly X" — thresholds vary by account history and change with Instagram's enforcement; any single universal number overstates what anyone knows

When limits reset and how blocks interact
Community observation holds that rolling windows (roughly 24-hour) matter more than midnight resets community-reported. If you exceed friction thresholds, the consequence is usually an action block — temporary, hours to weeks — rather than a permanent limit change. After a block, resume at reduced volume; the ceiling you personally face is effectively lower for a while.
